======
TWO

Under heaven all can see beauty as beauty only because there is ugliness.
All can know good as good only because there is evil.

Therefore having and not having arise together;
Difficult and easy complement each other;
Long and short contrast each other;
High and low rest upon each other;
Voice and sound harmonize each other;
Front and back follow one another.

Therefore the sage goes about doing nothing, teaching no-talking.
The ten thousand things rise and fall without cease,
Creating, yet not possessing,
Working, yet not talking credit.
Work is done, then forgotten.
Therefore it lasts forever.

When you see beauty, you also label ugliness.
When you know good, you also define evil.

Lao Tzu says,
Have have-not come together
Difficult and easy arise together;
Long and short reflect each other;
High and low contrast each other
Sound and silence harmonize each other;
Front and back follow one another.

Therefore,
The wise man follows the nature,
He does without action, teaches without preaching,
Of the creation and process of things,
He does not push forward;
Of the working and success of deeds,
He does not take credit.
Because he does not possess,
He shall forever has.

And,
The true lover follows the heart--
Desires but not pursues,
Admires but not possesses.
Enjoys the all moments with gratitude,
And lets love fulfill itself.

Perhaps because I cannot hold you,
My love for you shall never dies.

======
2.(st)

If something looks beautiful to you,
something else must be ugly.
If something seems good,
something else must seem bad.

You can't have
something without nothing.
If no job is difficult,
then no job is easy.
Some things are up high
because other things are down low.
You know you're listening to music
because it doesn't sound like noise.
All that came first,
so this must be next.

The Masters get the job done
without moving a muscle
and get their point across
without saying a word.

When things around them fall apart,
they stay cool.
They don't own much,
but they use whatever's at hand.
They do the work
without expecting any favors.
When they're done,
they move on to the next job.
That's why their work is so damn good.

嘻嘻,一定是当年读 Gibran 读多了,还抄给人读,还从英文翻译成中文。:)

The language of love is universal. Love is a poem.
老子:爱是“作而弗始,生而弗有,為而弗恃,功成而不居”。:)

Gibran:

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.
When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."
And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.
Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.
